Another Genesis Movie Update

February 23rd, 2015

We've mentioned the Genesis in 3D Movie before and we've been eagerly tracking their progress. If you haven't heard of the Genesis movie, they are attempting to tell the story of the 6 days of creation in a feature-length CGI animation.

Recently, they took the progress they had made on their movie to Answers in Genesis and sat down with them to discuss what they thought of it. You can check out their video update on their Facebook page at this link here.

It's exciting to see that a lot of progress is being made and that they're open to constructive criticism. You can definitely tell that they're invested in this project and want to make sure it's done right! The synopsis for this movie reads:

"We all know the power of a good story communicated in a good film. GENESIS is the beginning of the Greatest Story Ever Told, so we need to communicate it in a Great Film! GENESIS will depict the first three chapters of GENESIS (from God's creation to man's fall) in a very literal, accurate, even emotional way. Just to ensure that this film really reaches out and grabs you, it will also be created in 3D!"

They are also asking for people to be prayer warriors about this film. Their goal is to get as many people as possible praying about this movie. If you want to support them by praying for this movie, you can find out more details here. Be sure to keep checking back as we let you know when this movie releases!

The Drop Box Coming to Theaters + Sweepstakes!

January 22nd, 2014

The Drop Box Movie Contest

We've mentioned The Drop Box before, and now it finally has a release date! For 3 days, March 3-5, The Drop Box will be featured in theaters around the country. The synopsis for this film reads:

"Every year, hundreds of newborn babies are abandoned on the streets of Seoul, South Korea. The Drop Box tells the story of Lee Jong-rak, a pastor who has dedicated his life to embracing and protecting those deemed undesirable and unlovable. By installing a “mailbox” for women to surrender their babies, Pastor Lee has created an environment of love and hope for those who would have otherwise been abandoned on the streets.

In addition to watching this moving documentary, you’ll hear from a panel of special guests including filmmaker Brian Ivie, Grammy and Dove Award-winning recording artist Steven Curtis Chapman, his wife Mary Beth, and moderator for the evening, Focus on the Family president Jim Daly.

Don’t miss the incredible story of the forgotten, the abandoned, the discarded - and the man who is giving everything to protect them."

Also, Focus on the Family is running a contest right now for a chance to win two tickets to view this film in Colorado Springs on March 3rd. You can find out more info about entering this contest on the Plugged In website.

The Jesus Revolution

January 18th, 2015

It's no secret around here that we love Kickstarter campaigns. We're always excited when a new Christian film comes along trying to be funded on Kickstarter, and today is no exception. Yesterday, a campaign was launched on Kickstarter for a new movie called The Jesus Revolution. Created by Jon Erwin, co-director of October Baby and Mom's Night Out, this movie explores the theme of spiritual revolution and attempts to rekindle this kind of revolutionary attitude that has been experienced in generations past. The description says:

Amidst all of the turmoil of the 1960’s, a move of God swept across the country. Time magazine called it the Jesus Revolution. Some called it a miracle. We just call it what it is. Hope.

We have a generation at risk... we need this to happen again. The answer is Jesus."

What's amazing about this film is why it's being funded on Kickstarter -- they want to be able to give this movie away for free. They want anyone and everyone to watch this film and be transformed by it. You can find out more about this project on their Kickstarter page. There you can also support them in this project if you'd like to see it become a reality. Be sure to check back as we bring you the latest on this movie!

Do You Believe? Update

January 5th, 2014

A few months back, we informed you of the latest movie from Pure Flix Entertainment, Do You Believe? This movie is from the same creators of the very successful film God's Not Dead, and is now set to release in theaters on March 20th, 2015. The movie will feature Sean Astin (Lord of the Rings, Mom's Night Out), Andrea Logan White (Revelation Road, Mom's Night Out), and another Newsboys song, We Believe from their CD Restart. The synopsis for this film reads:

"A dozen different souls—all moving in different directions, all longing for something more. As their lives unexpectedly intersect, they each are about to discover there is power in the Cross of Christ … even if they don't believe it. Yet.

When a local pastor is shaken to the core by the visible faith of an old street-corner preacher, he is reminded that true belief always requires action. His response ignites a faith-fueled journey that powerfully impacts everyone it touches in ways that only God could orchestrate.

This stirring new film from the creators of God's Not Dead arrives in theaters Spring of 2015. More than a movie, it's a question we all must answer in our lifetimes: DO YOU BELIEVE?"

It will be interesting to see if this movie reaches as many people as their previous film, God's Not Dead. We'll be sure to give you our thoughts once this movie is released! In the meantime, what do you think of this movie? Were you a fan of God's Not Dead? Let us know in the comments below!

Holy Ghost on DVD

December 19th, 2014

Holy Ghost, a film originally funded on Kickstarter, has just been released on DVD! This was an interesting film, and while we may not have agreed with it entirely, it sparked some interesting conversation on an episode of the podcast. The synopsis for this film reads:

"Can the Holy Spirit direct a movie? In this fast-paced documentary from the director of Finger of God, Furious Love and Father of Lights, Darren Wilson sets out to make a movie that is completely led by the Holy Spirit. No plan, no script, no safety net – just go wherever he feels the Spirit leading him to try and discover the adventure God has for him. Whether its the riches of Monte Carlo, a heavy metal concert, or the oldest city in the world, the result is a film that not only challenges and excites, but also reveals a God who is far more alive and active than you ever imagined."

You can find both the original version of this film, or the deluxe edition, featuring three DVDs over on their website here. This is definitely a film worth discussing, whether you agree with it or not. After you've seen it, be sure to let us know what you thought of it in the comments below!
